ASIS International has named the second edition of Risk Analysis and Security Countermeasure Selection by Thomas L. Norman, CPP, PSP, the 2016 Security Book of the Year. Published in 2015 by CRC press, the award-winning book examines the core principles of the risk analysis lifecycle, demonstrates how to estimate the efficiency of security countermeasures, and presents updated case studies and methodologies for addressing existing and future threats.

Awarded annually since 2014, the ASIS Book of the Year is selected by a committee of ASIS International members who, throughout the year, read and review an array of security books, nominating one that stands out. The final nominated titles are anonymously rated by electronic ballot and the winning title named the "security book of the year".
Previous winners include Soft Target Hardening: Protecting People from Attack by Dr. Jennifer Hesterman and Crisis Management and Emergency Planning by Dr. Michael J. Fagel.
