Agencies' Statement on Antitrust and Cyber Information Sharing is Encouraging

22 April 2014

A major concern of corporations has been that sharing of cyber threat information among them would lead to antitrust action. With other members of the US Chamber of Commerce National Security Task Force, ASIS has pressed for resolution of this issue. The Justice Department and FTC have reached a decision that information that relates directly to physical and cyber security best practices and vulnerabilities may be freely exchanged as long as there is no discussion of prices for equipment or recommendations in favor of a vendor. The resolution of this liability question removes a cloud over boardrooms and legal departments.
