Puerto Rico Chapter Wins Bordes Award

27 April 2013

The 2013 Roy Bordes Physical Security Award has been presented to the ASIS chapter in Puerto Rico. The chapter will be awarded $5,000 to develop and host an education program addressing topical issues in
physical security.

In their application, the chapter proposed a multi-instructional approach to their program, which is to feature a combination of conference sessions and applied workshops for hands-on experience and scenario-based programming.

Chapter Chair Jose Correa, Jr., CPP, PSP, stated in his chapter's ward application, "There are increasing requirements related to the constant criminal activities in Puerto Rico, and a public outcry for action. The ASIS chapter is focusing on assisting all security professional by increasing their knowledge of and ability to apply the most current physical security techniques and applications."

The chapter anticipates drawing up to 400 participants to their event, which will be scheduled for the fall of 2013. Richard Hawkins, CPP, PSP, will serve as the event's chairman.

Detailed program information will be posted as it becomes available.
