​ASIS International is a not-for-profit organization. It is classified under IRS section 501(c)(6) as a professional association. Contributions or gifts to ASIS are not deductible as charitable contributions. Dues payments and other educational purchases may be deductible as ordinary business expenses.

Chapters in the U.S. are covered under Group Exemption #3110. Under the IRS Group Exemption program, subordinates are recognized as exempt based on this exemption of the parent. 

The ASIS Foundation, a nonprofit organization, operates as a research and educational organization. It is classified under IRS section 501(c)(3) as a charitable organization.
