Q:

How are decisions made on whether ASIS will support or oppose a policy?

a:

Because our resources are limited, we focus on policies which are likely to have the most far-reaching effects. This would include a policy, for example, that would have a moderate impact across all or many segments of the security profession, or one that would have an extreme impact on one or a few segments of the profession. When we identify such policies, we bring them before a body of ASIS members for advice and input.
