​​SPEEDWAY MAKEOVER

DAYTONA Rising is a recent renovation of the Daytona International Speedway. Five expanded and redesigned entrances lead fans to three different concourse lev­­els featuring social areas known as neighborhoods. New seats, restrooms, and concession stands, plus 60 luxury suites, will make visitors more comfortable while viewing the speedway’s spectacular races.

Helping ensure that security keeps up with the new surroundings is the Daytona Technology Platform Powered by CDW. The initial group of technology providers are CDW; Belden; CommScope, Inc.; The Integration Factory; Peerless-AV; and Schneider Electric. Later in the project, Honeywell, ComNet Communications, and Graybar joined the team to provide security systems, cable installation, and supply chain management services, respectively.

Integrator Security 101 designed the security system, which includes Honeywell’s MAXPRO video management system and Pro-Watch access control platform, controlling nearly 600 surveillance cameras and protecting nearly 300 doors. ComNet worked with CommScope to install fiber and copper cabling systems for the project. Graybar provided supply chain management and logistics services.​

PARTNERSHIPS AND DEALS

AirMap is partnering with drone manufacturers DJI and 3DR to bring accurate, real-time airspace information to drone flyers around the world.

Five Arecont Vision megapixel cameras were installed by Sequoyah Electric and Network Services at a Seattle Goodwill Industries store. Working with the Seattle Police Department and images from the new cameras, the store was able to solve its graffiti problem. 

Checkpoint Systems is partnering with Decathlon, a sports and leisure goods retailer, to implement RFID solutions in more than 400 stores for inventory control and loss prevention.

DSM Dyneema announced a partnership with Airborne International to develop and produce radomes (protective enclosures for radars that don’t interfere with signals). Pro Patria Electronics is using the new technology for its tower-mounted, ground surveillance radar.

Visa’s mobile identity solution is powered by a geo-location analysis engine and mobile-banking-application toolkit from Finsphere Corporation. Dubai-based Emirates NBD will offer the solution to its cardholders.

Georgia Tech joined the Messaging, Malware, and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group to help disseminate its cyber research directly to the industry.

Jamison RFID and CYBRA Corporation collaborated to produce the CYBRA-Hawk RFID-based EAS loss prevention and inventory management solution.

A tracking system from GPS AnyPlace, covertly attached to concrete forms, enabled law enforcement to recover the forms for J.T. Hoover Concrete.

GBE Fire & Security chose Kentec fire alarm control panels to protect a new office and retail development in London.

Dutch online retailer Koopjesdrogis­terij will use facial recognition or fin­gerprint scanning for purchases. The payment recognition method was developed by Hoyos Labs and uses a smartphone’s camera to work.

Metro Sales Group is the new manufacturer’s representative for Sielox LLC in New York and New Jersey.

Dunkin’ Donuts is using a network video recorder solution from Milestone Systems to protect its Iceland branches. Security Center Iceland installed the devices, and each manages up to 10 VIVOTEK cameras inside and outside the stores.

STAR Systems International renewed its exclusive distribution agreement and entered into a cooperation agreement with Infinity RFID.

Tyco Security Products is providing the Elpas Real Time Location System to Or Yom Nursing Home in Istanbul, Turkey, to monitor distress calls from residents and staff.

BayPort Credit Union is using Verint Systems Inc. video and situational awareness solutions to reduce fraud and protect assets.​

GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS

Daon was selected to supply automated passport control kiosks and provide maintenance and associated services for the U.S. Pre-Clearance facility at Dublin Airport. Daon worked with partner GCR Inc. to source the kiosks and fulfill contract requirements.

DSM Dyneema collaborated with Morgan Advanced Materials to develop ultra-lightweight helmets for the Canadian Military Helmet program.

EF Johnson Technologies, Inc., signed a contract with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to deliver a secure P25 Phase 2 communication system, new radio fleet, and long-term support services to upgrade and manage its radio network.

Elusys Therapeutics, Inc., was awarded an order for Anthim, an investi­gational agent for treatment of inhala­tional anthrax infection, from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

ING Robotic Aviation and the Centre Géomatique du Québec received an award from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to integrate a LiDAR system on drones.

MASA Group is a founding member of the United Nations Private Sector Alli­ance for Disaster Resilient Societies (ARISE), which aims to improve resilience for cities around the world. MASA’s SYNERGY software enables first responders to validate disaster plans and train staff for better preparedness.

The Soter Body Scanner from OD Security is being used by the Kuwait General Administration of Customs to detect smuggled items that might be hidden within the human body.

North Carolina selected root9B to participate in its Statewide Security Assessment. Under the contract, root9B may provide security program assessment reviews, network architecture assessments, penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, and wireless network security assessments. 

The San Antonio Police Department has ordered body-worn cameras and a subscription to Evidence.com from TASER International.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate will sponsor TeleCommunication Systems, Inc., for a second phase of research on using footprints associated with radio frequency coverage to improve geo-targeting. The company is partnering with ClearTalk Wireless to validate the findings of the first phase.​

AlliedBarton Security Services earned the 2016 Military Friendly Employer designation from Victory Media for the fifth consecutive year.

American Science and Engineering, Inc., announced that R&D Magazine named its MINI Z imaging system one of the 100 most technologically innovative products introduced in the past year.

Avwatch, Inc., was awarded a civilian license for the Android Team Awareness App, which will enable the public safety community to leverage cutting- edge military technology.

The Communauté de l’Agglomération Havraise (CODAH), the government body responsible for the French city Le Havre, won the Trophée de la Collectivité Locale of social resilience from the French Committee for Civil Defense.

The Smavia Viewing Client Software by Dallmeier was certified by Fiducia.

The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission announced that two organizations completed the accreditation process for its Data Registry Accreditation Program: Alpha II, LLC, and FIGmd, Inc.

Computer Technology Review selected the file security solution from FinalCode, Inc., as a Most Valuable Product award winner in the Security category.

Implant Sciences Corporation announced that its QS-B220 desktop explosives and drugs trace detector won the 2015 GSN Homeland Security Award for Best Explosive Detection Product or Solution for the third year in a row.

NTT Com Security was named a LogRhythm Platinum Partner for its support of the LogRhythm Security Intelligence platform.

Avwatch, Inc., opened a new, state-of-the-art research and development center in Macedonia, Ohio, dedicated to mission-critical technology for first responders.

TerrorView is a free mobile app from ConteGoView, Inc., that uses proprie­tary technology and intelligence experts to enable users to track threats throughout the world. 

Hikvision opened a facility in Johannesburg, South Africa, to serve the African market.

Locked Up Security announced that it is offering its LMS wireless intruder security system solutions in the United States and Canada. The company invites North American businesses to join its dealer program.

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association published the 2016 edition of Electrical Standards and Products Guide, a listing of its standards plus a directory of manufacturers. 

ONVIF held its 13th Developers’ Plugfest in Hangzhou, China, which gave member companies the chance to confirm their devices’ ONVIF conformance.

The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance released the test tool for its Physical Logical Access Interoperability specification.

Raytec launched the Lighting Standard for Video Surveillance Applications, which addresses the key factors determining lighting performance and more. The company also unveiled the free Raytec Design App, which makes lighting design for surveillance applications easier.

ServingVETS is a new social media platform that military veterans can use to find and review local resources, such as businesses and schools. 

STANLEY Security launched a nationwide veteran recruiting program, entering into partnerships with the Wounded Warrior Project, Warriors to Work, and recruiting firm Bradley- Morris, Inc.

Total Recall Corporation is celebrating 30 years of designing and delivering advanced video surveillance security solutions.

VASCO Data Security International, Inc., completed the acquisition of Silanis Technology, Inc., an electronic signature and digital transaction solutions provider.

Verint Systems Inc. announced the expansion of its Engage Global Customer Conference with the addition of tracks for security professionals focused on fraud, risk, and compliance. The event will take place June 27-30 in Chicago.
