FAQs
What should I do if the person I referred forgot to put my name on the application?
We can handle that. Simply ask the person you recruited to send an e-mail confirming that you were the "recruiter." Your full name along with your employer, member ID, or phone number should be included. Send the e-mail to asis@asisonline.org.
Why is there a difference in award structure for recruiting student members?
While ASIS greatly values and welcomes our student members, a separate award for recruiting new student members has been created in recognition of the differential between student annual dues and active/associate member annual dues.
How will I keep track of my results?
Quarterly reports will be posted on the ASIS Web site under the Reach Out section of the Web site. Both individual and chapter tallies will be listed.
How do I get extra copies of the ASIS membership application?
You can download a membership application. The online membership application is also available.
For the complete member recruitment brochure including the application, contact Member Services at 703-519-6200 or e-mail asis@asisonline.org.
How will the winning chapter be determined?
At the end of 2010, the chapter with the highest net percentage gain in membership will be the winner. It will not be based solely on the number of new members added during the year, but on net growth overall. Why? Because retaining members is a vital part of membership growth. We want to reward chapters that are successful at both Reaching Out and Holding On!
When will the awards be announced?
At the ASIS Leadership Meeting in January 2011. You do not need to be present. Those eligible for awards will be contacted by e-mail or mail. Instructions will be provided as to how you can redeem your awards.
If the person I recruit elects or is placed in a chapter that is not the one that I belong to, which chapter gets the credit?
Only the chapter to which the new member belongs gets the chapter credit.
Where can I find the Rules and Regulations of the Reach Out campaign?
We tried to keep it simple for you so there are only six rules. Read the rules and regulations.
If I don't feel comfortable asking acquaintances to join but I feel they are good candidates for membership, what should I do?
The "referral" option allows you to provide us with contact information for a potential membership candidate, and then ASIS will take the next step by sending the individual(s) membership information and an application. Simply use this online referral form.
However, you will not receive credit for any new member(s) referred unless the new member provides your name and employer or phone number on the application as the person who introduced him/her to ASIS. Which means - you'll still want to talk to them at some point!
