Middle Tennessee Chapter's Jones Recipient of ASIS Foundation's 2011 Walsh Award

The ASIS Foundation presented the 2011 Timothy J Walsh APC I Award to Middle Tennessee Chapter #052 Chair Melissa Jones in October 2011. Jones, who serves as national account manager for Whelan Security Co. is the 13th recipient of the award since its establishment in 2004. The award, which honors Timothy J. Walsh, CPP, an ASIS member who served at the committee, chapter, and national levels, pays tuition and travel expenses for an ASIS member to attend an ASIS Assets Protection Course (APC) I each year.

"The caliber of applicants this year was outstanding," stated Dave Davis, president, ASIS Foundation Board of Trustees. "While it was a difficult decision, Melissa's dedication to ASIS and the advancement of her professional knowledge and skills distinguished her from other candidates."

Jones has been a member of ASIS for nearly four years and has served in a number of volunteer positions in that time, including chapter secretary and vice chairman. Outside of her volunteer leadership endeavors, she regularly attends training classes offered by her corporate office to diversify and strengthen her core management abilities. These special education sessions concentrate on various aspects of human resources, finance, and logistics.

Jones attended the APC I course held in Boston, MA, November 14-17, 2011.

"The course was exceptionally beneficial," observed Jones. "I not only gained knowledge that will support my preparation for the CPP examination, but I also acquired a deeper, more diverse perspective on asset protection theories and methods."

Applications for the 2012 Timothy J. Walsh APC I Award will be accepted beginning September 4, 2012.
