Advancing
Victims' Rights and Services Among the Private Security Profession
This public/private partnership between the Federal government and the ASIS International Foundation has been made possible by resources provided by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.
The objective of the project is to prepare and deliver materials on victim services to the private sector. In fulfilling this mission, the ASIS Foundation developed resource materials and will be conducting training and awareness programs for private security intended to raise the understanding of crime victims’ rights and issues, and provide recommended approaches to respond to crime. All of this is working toward the goal of improving the capacity of the private security profession to better address and respond to victim concerns in the workplace.
Deliverables of the project include:
- Collection and review of existing materials on crime victims’ issues
- Development of resources and tools designed for security professionals
- Presentations to raise awareness of crime victim issues
- Dissemination of information
The ASIS Foundation received the initial grant for this project in September 2005. That support has been continued with an award in 2007 in order to further develop this important ASIS initiative.
