Lines of Hope Campaign raises more than $35,000 in 2011

$25,000 presented to U.S. wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military
Medical Center

On Tuesday, December 20, 2011, ASIS Vice President Jim Evans and Foundation Manager Barbara Buzzell were joined by ASIS members Kevin Doss, CPP, PSP and Bill Foos for the presentation of pre-paid calling cards, which totaled more than $25,000 in value, to wounded U.S. soldiers recovering at the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

The ASIS Foundation established the Lines of Hope Campaign in 2011 to continue the important work initiated by ASIS member Kevin T. Doss, CPP, PSP, in 2007. Doss identified a critical need among the wounded soldiers, and began raising funds to provide pre-paid calling cards for wounded U.S. soldiers recovering at Walter Reed. The Foundation’s Lines of Hope campaign is built upon his successful program established at the chapter level.

As of 2011, donations to Walter Reed have exceeded $100,000. The Foundation is in discussions with representatives at Walter Reed to determine how the remaining funds raised in 2011 may be directed to the greatest benefit of the soldiers.

Representatives from Verizon Wireless, one of the major corporate donors to the campaign, also attended the December 2011 presentation.

The Foundation extends special appreciation to the 2011 corporate donors, which include Securitas; Verizon Wireless; Security Management Solutions; McRoberts Protective Agency; and U.S. Security Care, Inc. The following ASIS chapters also made contributions to the campaign this year: #010 North Texas, #076 Olympic Mountain, and #079 Central Pennsylvania. A listing of individuals who also made donations may be found on the campaign Webpage.

Donations to the campaign are accepted year-round. For more details, or to give, please visit the campaign’s webpage.
