Download the conference registration form in pdf Optional ToursSunday 14:00 - 17:30Discover Berlin (55 Euro/person)This tour will take you to the newly built complexes of the city as well as not only to the well-known sights of Berlin. After a drive through the Tiergarten, you will stop at Potsdamer Platz in the heart of the city where important contemporary architects have left their mark. Afterwards we continue to the new embassy quarter and the government district where the impressive Reichstag building is not to be missed. Our guide will take you up into the glass dome designed by Sir Norman Foster for a fantastic panoramic view of the city before stopping for coffee and cake. When leaving the Reichstag, you will walk through Berlin's most iconic structure, the Brandenburg Gate, after which your trip continues along the historical boulevard Unter den Linden. Monday 10:00 - 16:00Prussian Glamour (95 Euro/person)This excursion is filled with interesting history! You will visit the "island" city of Potsdam, surrounded by lakes and lush gardens. On the way you will drive over the Glienicker Bridge where captured American and Soviet secret agents were exchanged during the cold war. The main focus of the visit will be New Palace and the beautiful garden of Sanssoucci. The palace itself was built for the guests of King Frederick the Great and boasts 200 magnificent rooms. You will visit the Grottensaal, decorated with ancient fossils and also the Marble Hall which is decorated with selected white marble from Carrara and Silezia. You will continue to the crown domain of Bornstedt, also known as the "little Italian village". It belongs to the ensemble of Prussian castles and gardens and was recognised as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. After lunch, you will tour the picturesque Dutch quarter. Stroll through the streets and cosy courtyards and discover small shops and cafes before returning to Berlin. Tuesday: 09:30 - 13:00Divided City (55 Euro/person)This tour will focus on the divided past of the two sections of Berlin during the cold war. The first stop will be Checkpoint Charlie, once the most notorious border crossing between East and West. Your guide will take you on a walking tour in the surrounding area to discover sights you would otherwise pass, followed by a guided tour of the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. After this moving visit, your last stop will be the Wall Memorial at Bernauer Strasse, for an impression of how the wall impacted everyday live in Berlin. Tuesday: 14.30 - 17.30Gallery Tour (55 Euro/person)This special afternoon tour will take you to a very lively quarter where many artists live and work, and where you can find lots of interesting craft shops, cozy little cafes, and trendy bars. Our guide will take you through the labyrinth of eight adjoining courtyards and show you the hidden secrets of those places. Later on you'll continue along Auguststrasse where you'll find an interesting artist or fascinating art on display at every courtyard.
