Opening Keynote Speaker
Antonio Vitorino, Former European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs, Portugal
Antonio Vitorino is a former European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs. He graduated in law from the University of Lisbon. A lawyer by training, he was first elected to Parliament in 1980. He was part of the Portuguese administration in Macau, returning in 1989 to become a judge of the Constitutional Court. In 1995, he became minister for defence and deputy prime minister in the first government of António Guterres. From 1999-2004, he was European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs under Commission President Romano Prodi. During his tenure, he was responsible for the European Extradition and Sentence Recognition Treaty and the various internal security policies in the crucial period of 9/11 and onwards.
In addition to his ongoing role as commentator for RTP 1's programme Notas Soltas hosted by television journalist Judite de Sousa, Mr. Vitorino is also a lawyer.

Manny Alas, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, USA
Mr. Alas has 25 years of professional experience. He serves as the Global Co-Leader of the Firm's Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) practice and New York leader of the Forensic Services practice. His FCPA expertise includes investigations, compliance programs, controls implementation, pre and post merger due diligence and training programs. He provides specialised advisory services to attorneys, boards of directors, audit committees, and senior company management.
His area of expertise is FCPA as well as fraud investigations and forensic accounting. Manny has led a variety of significant international and domestic investigations covering such areas as: accounting fraud, asset diversion, foreign corrupt practice investigations, money laundering and Ponzi schemes. He assists clients and law firms with investigations before the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Martin Smith MBE, Chairman/Founder of the Security Awareness Special Interest Group - The Human Factor in Security
Martin Smith has had a fascinating and varied career in the world of espionage. His unique knowledge of counter-terrorism, counter-fraud and computer security is in enormous demand from commercial corporations around the world.
Martin gained his degree in behavioural psychology before spending nearly 15 years as a commissioned officer in the UK Royal Air Force, mainly assigned to counter-espionage and counter-terrorism duties throughout East and West Europe. After being awarded membership of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for this work, he left the Service to carve out a second career in the commercial sector. He joined Touche Ross Management Consultants before becoming the Senior Director of Corporate Security for Kroll Associates. He then joined the Standard Chartered Bank as Head of Information Security before (in 1997) forming The Security Company (International) Limited.
Martin is a Fellow of The Security Institute. He is also the Chairman/Founder of the Security Awareness Special Interest Group and an active member of the Information Security Awareness Forum.
