Professional Development Incentive Program for ASIS Chapters -
Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is this new incentive program?
The Professional Development Incentive Program for ASIS chapters is designed to provide a non-dues revenue source for local chapters, to expand the visibility of ASIS professional development programs, and to better serve its members and nonmembers.

ASIS chapters can accrue credits redeemable for programs and products sold through the ASIS Store by a) promoting ASIS professional development programs and b) through individual program registrations for programs the chapter promoted.

2. What chapters qualify?
All chapters in good standing qualify for participation in this program.

3. What are the incentives? How much can my chapter earn?
A chapter can earn $50 per quarter, or $200 per year, by promoting ASIS professional development programs via e-mail and a combination of print and electronic communications. (Refer to Promotional Guidelines and Requirements for complete details.)

Additionally, a chapter can earn $25 per registrant, per program. There is no limit to the number of attendees for whom a chapter can earn credit. Member and nonmember registrations are eligible. In order to receive credit, registrants must indicate a chapter referral code when registering, and they must register via fax.

(The following are excluded from this program: Seminar, Webinars, online programs, the Wharton/ASIS Executive Program for Security Executives, and chapter-sponsored programs.)

4. Will my chapter earn credits when our members attend programs that the chapter did
not promote?

Credits can only be earned for programs the chapter actively promoted.

5. How many programs do I need to promote each quarter in order to earn credit?
A chapter must promote a minimum of one program per quarter in order to earn credit.

(The following are excluded from this program: Seminar, Webinars, online programs, the Wharton/ASIS Executive Program for Security Executives, and chapter-sponsored programs.)

6. Why do you ask the chapters to communicate to nonmembers?
Chapter promotions are one way to extend the reach of ASIS HQ's messaging. Chapters can benefit by recruiting new members and engaging new prospects in their local programming
as well.

7. What is the policy for no-shows, cancellations, and refunds?
In instances where a registrant has paid in full for a program, but did not show up, the chapter earns credit. If, however, a registrant cancels or is issued a refund, credit will not be accrued.

8. How are promotional activities and attendance tracked and recorded?
Both are tracked and recorded by ASIS HQ staff. Chapters are required to submit a form indicating the promotional activities undertaken each quarter. Samples of marketing communications, as well as audience identification are required. Refer to Promotional Guidelines and Requirements for complete details.

Chapter members' and prospects' attendance is tracked through the use of a special registration form that has an area for the attendee to indicate the referring chapter's unique code. In order for the chapter to receive credit, all registration forms must be faxed with the referral code noted. The code for all chapters is the letter E plus the chapter number. For instance, the chapter number for Phoenix is 014, so the registration code for all attendees recruited by the Phoenix chapter is E-014.

The ASIS Education Department will review all promotional submissions and registrations to ensure requirements have been met. Once confirmed, all applicable credits will be applied to an individual chapter account for redemption in the following calendar year. A designated chapter representative will receive a quarterly statement via e-mail indicating the past quarter's credits as well as the total accrued credit balance.

9. Can my chapter track its status online?
Currently, online tracking is not an available.

10. Can my chapter submit bi-weekly or monthly reports?
No, reports must be completed and submitted on a quarterly basis.

11. How can my chapter submit the credit redemption reports?
Please utilize the contact information provided on the submission form to communicate your promotional activities.

12. When and how can my chapter redeem credits?
Credits accumulate throughout the calendar year and are redeemable the following calendar year. For example, credits accrued in 2010 are redeemable in 2011. Credits expire on December 31 of the appointed redemption year.

Credits are redeemable for programs and products sold through the ASIS Store with the following exceptions: Seminar, Webinars, online programs, the Wharton/ASIS Executive Program for Security Executives, books not published by ASIS, and chapter-sponsored programs.

Credits must be redeemed directly through the ASIS Finance Department. Detailed purchasing policies and procedures will be communicated along with final annual balance statements.
